Kreon Drives & Firmware Setup

Samsung TSSTCorp Models:

  • SATA models:
    • TS-H353A aka SH-D163A
    • TS-H353B aka SH-D163B
  • IDE models:
    • TS-H352C aka SH-D162C aka SD-M2012C(?)
    • TS-H352D aka SH-D162D

Download and install the appropriate firmware for your model.

Stock Xbox360 Drives

The above Kreon Drives are preferred as they are faster, more reliable, have support in redumper, and are significantly easier to setup and use.

Specific models of Xbox360 drives can be connected to a PC with custom hardware and flashed with custom firmware to allow redump-compatible dumping using XBC (XboxBackupCreator). The process to connect stock drives to PC, flash them, and dump with them is extremely complicated and prone to mistakes. Dumping Original Xbox discs with these drives is an extremely slow and tedious process as they do not skip the security sector ranges, with each sector reporting as a read error. While Original Xbox discs dumped using stock Xbox360 drives are still acceptable for redump submission, we highly recommend and prefer dumps via redumper with Kreon drives. If you are unable to get one of the Kreon drives above and are comfortable working with hardware and computers, the instructions are below:

Note: Previously, 0800 drives were required for getting the SS (security sector) from XGD3 discs, however this is no longer the case when using the latest version of redumper (build 597 or later) and ZZ01 or DC02 revisions of the Kreon firmware linked above. There is no benefit to using stock Xbox360 drives and we do not recommend anyone purchase these drives for redump (unless submitting to abgx360 is your primary goal).
