Optical Disc Drive Compatibility: GD-ROM
From Redump Wiki
A list of optical disc drives compatible with dumping GD-ROM discs.
GDs contain two distinctly different "Areas" of data ("LD Area" and "HD Area"), separated by a ring. Both Areas are dumped with a separate process.

LD Area
For dumping the LD Area, the same methodology applies for dumping a CD-ROM. The list of compatible drives for dumping LD Area is here.
HD Area: GD-ROM
All firmware downlaods listed are swapless unless otherwise noted.

Firmware Installation Instructions
- Download the appropriate firmware for your model.
- Download the app sfdnwin.exe and place it in the same folder as the firmware download.
- Open the Command Prompt app and cd (change directory) to the location of the files.
- Run the command: sfdnwin.exe -nocheck
- You'll get a pop up that says "-Nocheck Use!!!", click "OK" beneath it. This will open the SFDNWIN app.
- In the app, select your "Drive".
- Click the light-blue Folder icon in the upper left part of the app, then select the ".bin" firmware file.
- Click the green Folder icon.
- If the firmware was successfully flashed, you will be asked to restart your computer, do this.
Notes:
- When connected with a USB adapter, SATA models may falsely claim the firmware was not updated. More research is helpful, please report your findings here.
- Linux will produce bad dumps if using the libata driver on some SATA chipsets due to silently erroring on the lock state command. Some DiscImageCreator builds will not report the dump as bad, so it is recommended to use redumper for Kreon dumps on Linux.
HD Area: GD-R (Burned Preproduction)
Working to some at least extent (WARNING: needs significant additional testing):
- Plextor: PX-708A, PX-755A, PX-755SA, PX-4012TA[8]
